Do or Die

So I did it. I signed up for the big race. I'm going to run a half marathon. It has been quite the distraction for the past few days, it's all I can think about. In fact last night I dreamt about it. Wes at the last minute decided he wanted to run with me. So we left the starting line to sign him up. As we were signing him up I looked down at my MP3 player to get it going and noticed that the battery was dead. (side note, if I don't have music there is NO way I can do it.) Then I heard a gunshot and turned around and saw that the race started. Ahhhhh, I left Wes and ran as fast as I could down to the race and began. All of the sudden the run turned into a obstical course with high jumps and rock walls. I was so angry because I knew in my dream that all this stuff was totally ruining my time. I looked at on the first-aid workers and said, "How far have I even gone, like 3 miles?" The lady replied, "No, not even one." Then I woke up in a pool of cold sweat. I need to pick up a new hobby.

Dim-Witted Gadgets: Part 1

So the other day Wes and I were driving in the car together. I was leisurely looking out the window when I noticed a cute little family out for a mid-morning jaunt.
"Look at that cute family Wes."-Kate
"Where?"-Wes
"Right over there. See, there's the dad walking next to the mom, and she is carrying the...baby?!?"-Kate
"Oh snap, Kate that's not a baby."-Wes
"Daddy, you said a bad word."-Logan
"Dude. You're right, what is that furry thing? A dog? You have got to be kidding me!!"-Kate
"That's a dog alright!"-Wes
What has this world come to, because to me the whole reason for taking dogs outside was to walk them, not literally "walk" them. But hey, what do I know. Now, there was once a time, not long ago, when animals were animals and humans were, well human. However, recently the two have been merging until there is no clear distinction at all. Before we know it, dogs and cats will be attending school with our children and playing professional sports...Now that I have been thinking I would like to apologise to all the animals that for one reason or another cannot walk. It would be in this situation that a carrying devise like the one above would be very useful and quite kind, because everyone, dog or human alike can appreciate fresh air. Stay tuned for more dim-witted gadgets, or feel free to comment on some not-so-practical inventions you've seen around town.

Dinner Time at our House

So it's a quarter to 6 and I am just starting to think about dinner. I had planned to make fajitas, but for one reason or another the chicken didn't get thawed and honestly, it just doesn't sound good to me. I'm looking around the kitchen frantically for something to make and Logan says to me in all seriousness, "Mom, how about we have chips for dinner." If only it was that easy.

Dignity flushed away

Ok - this is the first ever entry hat I have done on our family blog. The reason is that my sister Hayley and I always share with each other our misfortunes and stupid things we do. Well today I had one.

So I had a good sweat at the gym, played some basketball and worked out. When I got done I went back to the locker room and proceeded to get undressed and get ready to take a shower. I locked my locker with all of my stuff in it and took my key. So I start to walk toward the shower with nothing but my key and a little white towel around my waist, nothing more. Well on my way to the showers I decided to go into the steamroom first. But before I went into the steamroom I had to go to the bathroom(#1). So I walked into the bathroom stall with my little white towel on, and this is where the trouble set in. As I finished I bent over and flushed the toilet. It was one of those toilets that flushes super hard, like it could suck down a whole pumpkin. Well, the second I pushed the handle my locker key fell out of my hand, into the toilet, and was gone in the blink of an eye. I stood there in shock for a few seconds and then thought, what do I do? I am basically naked except for this tiny little towel that I am already a little uncomfortable in. I obviously can't go get someone out of the locker room. So after the initial shock was over I walked out of the bathroom into the main locker room area hoping to see one of the gym employees. No one was there, but then luckily a guy I play basketball walked right in. I said, Sam you need to help me, I just flushed my key down the toilet. He started laughing and then walked out to get someone to help. So like 2 minutes later a teenage employee walks in with a rubber glove on. I was like, dude, there is no way you are going to get that key, it is long gone. So as I stood there again and thats when all of my basketball buddies walk in and just see me standing there. So I obviously had to tell them what happened and they were all cracking up. About 3minutes later the kid comes back, no rubber glove this time, with a master key and lets me get my stuff. Thats just the kind of stuff that happens to me.

What a week!!

It has been a crazy week. I have had the hardest time adjusting back into my day to day routine. I didn't sleep well the 9 days we were on our vacation, and it finally hit me. Last night Wes had a basketball game, so he left about 7:40pm, the boys were in bed so, I went to bed too. It's amazing what 11 1/2 hrs of sleep will do to the body. Today was great, I took all of our Christmas decorations down, scrubbed the house, and made a lovely dinner for the family. When it came time to put the boys to bed I even had energy. Miracle.
