Who's who?

Yikes, next Tuesday is the Texas vote and I don't have a clue who to vote for. I had two people call me today to ask me who I am voting for and if I would vote for their canidate. I know so very little about each canidate and even less about what they stand for. I do know their party and what they look like...that's it. Can I get some help please. Tell me all you know, the good, the bad, the ugly. I just want to do my part for the country that I am so glad to be a part of.

Is your Mother there?

Has it ever happened to you? Your minding your own business, probably wiping a counter off or throwing in a load of laundry, and all the sudden the telephone rings. Being in the pleasent mood that you are always in, you answer the phone as polietly as you can, "Hello."
"Yes, is your mother there?"

Now here comes the tricky part. What to say. What do you say? "Um, noooo(being you are 26 years old and have two children of your own and your mom really isn't there)." Or maybe you say, "I'm the lady of the house." Or do you let this comment completely ruin your day and scream and yell and finally hang up the phone?

I think that this comment is just as presuming as saying when is your baby due and not fully knowing if the women you are talking to is pregnant or not, or commenting on a baby whose gender you're not totally sure of(ex:what a cute little girl, and the child you are refering to is actually a boy). I guess the point that I am trying to make is, less is more, stop and think before saying something and embarresing yourself, and try and be the least presumptuous as possible and you will never get into trouble.

The Fossil Finder

Tonight as we were driving to Wes' church b-ball game I said to Logan, "Logan, guess who is coming to our church in a few weeks?"
Log-"Who?"
Me-"Elder Dallin H. Oaks."(Elder Oaks is speaking/presiding at our Stake Conference in March, yahoo!!)
Log-"Who is that?"
Me-"He is a great man who is an Apostle. He is coming to teach us how to live more righteously and be more happy."
Log-"Well, is he going to bring dinosaur bones?"
Me-"What!?!"
Log-"You said he was a Fossil Finder, so is he going to bring some bones?"
Me-"Oh, no, an Apostle."
Log-"Oh, okay mommy that sounds great!"

I've tried to expain to Logan that President Hinckley passed away and now we have a new Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. The other day Logan was saying his prayers and prayed for President S. Monson. I tried to correct him and he told me very matter-of-factly that he has decided to call him President S. Monson instead.
Well, okay then.

Happy Heart Day!!

We hope everyone has a great Valentine's day tomorrow. The YW in our ward + a family invited all the kids over for a v-day party so the couples can go out without having to find a sitter. I thought that was so sweet. Thanks G'ma Sheriee for the cute shirts. Have a happy day!!

Kates Big Run

Well, she did it! Kate completed her first 13 mile half marathon, and she did awesome. She ran The Texas Half in 2:03:27. We are very proud of her. The boys and I were there to watch her start and finish. A couple good friends from the ward showed up for support and we all cheered her on. She ran it around beautiful White Rock Lake, a couple miles from downtown Dallas (as you can see in the background in the picture). Kate trained hard for this and it paid off. In fact, she has been obsessed with this, but I think you need to have a level of obsession in order to be prepared & successful. Way to go Kate!

Lord Logan is 4!!

Logan turned four last Wednesday. Wes and I can't believe that our baby is four. He was old enough to count down the days until his birthday. I decided to hold out one more year for party but felt badly after I went upstairs early on the 30th to give him some birthday cheer and he said to me, "Mom, who is coming over to celebrate with us?" I told him just the four of us were going to celebrate. He was quite dissapointed. Then he had a hard time waiting until after dinner for b-day cake. Our gift to him was Medievel Times, Dinner and Tournament, but the show wasn't until Saturday so it was a long day for him. His highlight was getting pizza for dinner with mom and picking out his own fountain drink at the gas station. But, if that was all we did for him that would have been enough! He loved it. He is such a sweet hearted little boy. He is so grateful for even the littlest things.

We did hype up Medievel Times for him. He was so excited, at one point I turned to Wes and said, "Where is Logan?" After a bit of searching I realized that he had gone out to the car and buckled himeself in his seat ready to go. He had so much fun. He came home and told me all about the horses and knights. He even said, "Mom the food was delicious." Apparently he couldn't get enough of the potatoe. He also said, "Dad, that was really fun, we can go back tomorrow if you want to."

Logan is growing and is as active as ever. I have had to already replace two pairs of jeans which he has managed to tear up the knees of. I also noticed that his long sleeved shirts I just bought this year (5T) are getting too small!! He loves primary and learned all about Daniel and the lions den yesterday. He was amazed by the story and wanted to hear it over and over and over according to his teacher.

We watched Nacho Libre with Logan Saturday night and have really come to enjoy his presence during our Saturday night activities. He loved the movie and runs around all day saying, "Chancho, I need to borrow some sweats!!" We sure love him and are so glad we could celebrate his birth into our family.
