I leisurely walked into the locker room after finishing a great 5 mile run and chest/tri weight workout when I noticed I had missed 3 calls on my cell phone. I always check my cell phone after I work out because when Logan is at school I'm afraid they might have tried to call me while I was out of reach. I checked the missed calls and they were all from Wes.
Missing 3 phone calls from Wes is a very uncommon thing. Wes is so busy these days that he rarely has time to call me once a day, let alone three in the space of a half an hour. It startled me and I immediately called right back.
He quickly answered the phone and proceeded to tell me that he was on the other line and he was just trying to pass on a message to me. He told me that someone, a Mr. Lyon, was trying to get a hold of me. He didn't know who he was or what he needed but he was urgently trying to get a hold of me and needed me to call him back ASAP.
He said, "His number is blah, blah, blah, press 0 for the operator and ask for Mr. Lyon. Call him back right away. Now, I got to get back to this client, I'll call you back in a few minutes."
To be perfectly honest, I was shocked. Who was Mr. Lyon and why was he trying to urgently get a hold of me. I then got worried. What had I done, and was I in trouble for something? I felt like a child again, racking my brain for my past actions and which one might need reprimanding. I dialed the phone number and
it was hard to hear with all comings and goings in the locker room. Then I heard,
"You have reached the Dallas Zoo and aquarium...if you know your parties extension you may dial it at any time or press 0 to speak with an operator." So I pressed 0. After holding for a couple of seconds the operator answered, "Dallas zoo, how might I direct your call?" Now totally confused I said, "Yes, I am returning a phone call for Mr. Lyon."
Operator: "Oh honey, someone got you good."
Me: "What?"
Operator: "This is the Zoo...Mr. Lyon called for you? We've had a lot of Mr. Bears today but I think your the first calling for Mr. Lyon."
It was at this point I realized today is April Fools Day. Hope you all had a good laugh, because I didn't and Wes got the king of all nuggies tonight!!

Future Plans

Last night as we were making our traditional Sunday night phone call grandma Peggy took her turn talking to Logan. She would ask him questions and Wes and I would listen as he would answer them(it's actually quite entertaining to listen to a four year old answer questions on the phone, almost as entertaining as watching the Bachelor). Soon the conversation led to, "Logan who are going to marry." (You see we have been talking about the temple with Logan and trying to explain to him that he can be married there someday. He has asked to marry myself and Aunt Hayley and so I told him he has to marry someone who #1, isn't in the family, and #2 doesn't already have a spouse. He decided upon a little girl in our ward named Lizzy. She is about 2 and the cutest thing ever. She adores Logan, he makes her laugh so hard, and he loves her. If you ask him why he likes Lizzy he says, "Because she is funny." Wes said, "Well, why do you want to marry Lizzy?" to which he replied, "Because I make silly faces at her and she laughs." So at church during Sacrament mtng yesterday, he looked over at her, crossed his eyes and stuck out his tongue and she burst into laughter. Logan looked right over to Wes and said, "See, I told you!!")
Anyway, back to the Sunday night phone call, after mom asked Logan about getting married she said, "Well are you going to go on a mission?"
Logan:"Yes."
Peg:"Did your daddy go on a mission?"
Log: (holding the phone away from his ear)"Dad, did you go on a mission?"
Wes:"Yes."
Log:"Yes...(again holding the phone aways from his ear), dad were you a police officer?"
Wes:(sounding caught off guard a little bit)"Um, no."
Log:"Oh...I really wish you were a police officer."
Everyone:Hysterical laughter!!
Anyway, maybe you had to be there but it was pretty funny, Logan was very serious when he said he really wished Wes were a police officer. So instead of worrying about choosing an career we should just get married, have kids wait until they are old enough to talk and then ask them what we should do as not to disappoint.
P.S.-Kitty is gone. I think I saw her on another neighbors porch, I am very sad and was in a bit of a depression about it last week.

Our little Kitty
It was a beautiful evening. The kids were in bed, the dishes were washed and cleaned, all the toys randomly scattered throughout the house were put in there proper place. Wes and I had just plopped ourselves in front of the tube to enjoy the last hour of uninterrupted AI when we heard something at the front door. It wasn't a knock or a pound, but some sort of faint cracking/scratching sound. Wes and I looked at each other and then without speaking engaged in our routine rock, paper, scissor game to decided who would check it out. I lost, which is no new occurrence, and slowly made my way over to the window by the front door. Now, just to look out the window you can't see in front of the door very well, so you have to climb up onto, how do I describe it, a box under the stairway and arch your neck in order to see directly in front of the door. What I saw startled me a bit, the fluff of an animal(and for those of you who really know me, know that I am not what
you call an animal lover). I hopped down and decided to do what I do best when anything non humane comes my way, scare!! Right before I opened the door to let out an unearthly shriek. Wes said, "What is it?" In a rather annoyed voice I replied, "A cat!"
"Don't scare it, just leave it alone." This comment took me by surprise, Wes likes animals but knows and understands that I detest them and therefore doesn't care if I rid them from our property. "I'm not." I shouted and then sat down just in time to see Jason Castro sing(who is my favorite!!) forgetting all about the intrusive cat.
The next night we heard the same sound at the door. I look out and yet again there was the cat. "Wes, come here, you'll never believe whats back." Wes looked out the window and there he was curled up on our door mat. Just as cozy as he could be. I have to admit it was pretty cute seeing him taking a liking to OUR front porch.
Night after night we have checked and the cat is there. Saturday night I ran to the grocery store when I came home Wes called me to the front door proud to show me he had taken the liberty to set out some milk and a piece of pizza for the cat(I know what you are thinking pizza, who knows remember it's Wes.). We have even given it a name, "Kitty." That night we got up the courage and opened the door while he was drinking his milk. It's a pretty scraggly cat, we won't pet it and if it gets too close to either of us we shoo it away, but it's our little kitty and we love it.

Who's who?
Yikes, next Tuesday is the Texas vote and I don't have a clue who to vote for. I had two people call me today to ask me who I am voting for and if I would vote for their canidate. I know so very little about each canidate and even less about what they stand for. I do know their party and what they look like...that's it. Can I get some help please. Tell me all you know, the good, the bad, the ugly. I just want to do my part for the country that I am so glad to be a part of.

Is your Mother there?
Has it ever happened to you? Your minding your own business, probably wiping a counter off or throwing in a load of laundry, and all the sudden the telephone rings. Being in the pleasent mood that you are always in, you answer the phone as polietly as you can, "Hello."
"Yes, is your mother there?"
Now here comes the tricky part. What to say. What do you say? "Um, noooo(being you are 26 years old and have two children of your own and your mom really isn't there)." Or maybe you say, "I'm the lady of the house." Or do you let this comment completely ruin your day and scream and yell and finally hang up the phone?
I think that this comment is just as presuming as saying when is your baby due and not fully knowing if the women you are talking to is pregnant or not, or commenting on a baby whose gender you're not totally sure of(ex:what a cute little girl, and the child you are refering to is actually a boy). I guess the point that I am trying to make is, less is more, stop and think before saying something and embarresing yourself, and try and be the least presumptuous as possible and you will never get into trouble.

The Fossil Finder

Tonight as we were driving to Wes' church b-ball game I said to Logan, "Logan, guess who is coming to our church in a few weeks?"
Log-"Who?"
Me-"Elder Dallin H. Oaks."(Elder Oaks is speaking/presiding at our Stake Conference in March, yahoo!!)
Log-"Who is that?"
Me-"He is a great man who is an Apostle. He is coming to teach us how to live more righteously and be more happy."
Log-"Well, is he going to bring dinosaur bones?"
Me-"What!?!"
Log-"You said he was a Fossil Finder, so is he going to bring some bones?"
Me-"Oh, no, an Apostle."
Log-"Oh, okay mommy that sounds great!"
I've tried to expain to Logan that President Hinckley passed away and now we have a new Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. The other day Logan was saying his prayers and prayed for President S. Monson. I tried to correct him and he told me very matter-of-factly that he has decided to call him President S. Monson instead.
Well, okay then.

Happy Heart Day!!
We hope everyone has a great Valentine's day tomorrow. The YW in our ward + a family invited all the kids over for a v-day party so the couples can go out without having to find a sitter. I thought that was so sweet. Thanks G'ma Sheriee for the cute shirts. Have a happy day!!
xxoOXooOX(that's little kiss, little kiss, little hug, big hug, big kiss, little hug, little hug, big hug, big kiss)
